How acne actually happens!
Acne does not start on the surface of the skin. It begins inside the pore.
Hormonal signals increase oil (sebum) production. Excess oil combines with dead skin cells and blocks the pore, forming a blackhead or whitehead.
Inside this blocked pore, Cutibacterium acnes multiplies and triggers inflammation. The intensity of this inflammation decides whether acne stays mild or becomes painful, cystic, or scar-forming.
This process does not occur in everyone. It mainly affects people with acne-prone or hormonally sensitive skin.
Diet, stress, and lifestyle do not directly cause acne, but in susceptible individuals, they can worsen existing acne.
Understanding the mechanism helps treat acne correctly beyond just using face washes and spot creams.
